Submitting receipts via the app

For each receipt you receive please submit it to us by opening the app and choosing ShopandScan Receipts.

You can take up to four images for each receipt, for example if the receipt is very long or double-sided.

After pressing Next you'll then be asked to add your receipt image. Tap the area indicated to add an image, then select 'Take Photo' to open your camera. On an iPhone you may be asked to give permission to access the camera. Please allow this.

When you photograph the receipt please make sure that the receipt is as flat as possible, and the text is clear to read. If the image is blurred please retake the picture.

Click Next once you've taken your picture. Choose to take another photo if required, otherwise you will see the confirmation screen below. Press Next to submit the photos of this receipt.

We need to be able to read all the details on your receipts so it's very important for the pictures to be as clear as possible. If we're unable to use a receipt you may not be rewarded for it. See our tips for capturing your receipts for guidelines.

If you made purchases from multiple stores please repeat the process for each receipt you received.

Tips for capturing your receipts

We need to be able to read all the details on your receipts so it's very important for the pictures to be as clear as possible. If we're unable to use a receipt you may not be rewarded for it so below are some tips to help you take the best quality pictures.

  • Capture all details

Make sure all details printed on the receipt are captured in your images, from the very top right to the bottom, but don't take the picture too far away from the receipt as the text may become too small to read.

For particularly long receipts with approximately 30+ lines, you may need to capture in sections as per the instructions below.

For shorter receipts with less than 30 lines, hold the phone at a distance where the whole length of the receipt fits just within the picture like in the example below.

  • Creases and wrinkles

If the receipt has been folded please try to make it as flat as possible before you take the picture. When possible we recommend taking the picture straight after your purchase, this way you also won't forget to send it.

  • Lighting

Make sure there is enough light on the receipt so that the text is clear in the picture. If the light is too dim it may not be possible for us to read the text. If it is too dark try using the camera light if your phone has one.

  • Perspective

Take the picture from directly above the receipt, e.g. so that the receipt appears as a flat rectangular shape in the image and not at an angle.

  • Blurring

Keep your phone held as steady as possible when you take the picture to avoid the text becoming blurred. We suggest also placing the receipt on a flat surface such as a desk or a table so that it is stable.

  • Long receipts

For long receipts - e.g. a grocery receipt with lots of items (30+) - please take two pictures, first the top of the receipt and then the bottom.

We suggest folding the receipt in half so you can be sure you don't miss any details in the middle.

Alternatively, you can cut the receipt into parts (up to 3) and place them side-by-side to capture all in one picture.

  • Double-sided receipts

When submitting your receipt please take one image of the front of the receipt, then one of the reverse.

  • Multiple receipts in picture

Avoid capturing multiple receipts in the same picture, e.g. in the background or to the side of the one you are photographing.
